A New Model of Car Following Behavior Based on Lane Change Effects using Anticipation and Evaluation Idea

Nowadays, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plays an important role in transportation industry. The prominent aspect of these systems is their ability to increase safety and improve the traffic flow [1-2]. ITS achieves these goals by incorporating up-to-date information technologies of all kinds in the transportation field [3]. Among the microscopic traffic flow modeling, car following models are increasingly being used to evaluate new intelligent transport system applications. These models aim to describe the longitudinal movement of a driver following other vehicles and trying to maintain a safe distance to the leading vehicle [1].
